It’s not normal for me to post about the JV team, but I wanted to make a quick post about the JV team due to the fact that I was able to capture a team photograph of the JV Lady Cavalier Soccer team after their game against the Kingsburg Vikings. I will link directly to photographs of the team instead of the general game photographs. Perhaps next year we can get photographs of every sports team.

The Central Valley Christian Cavaliers took to the field attempting to upset the undefeated Kingsburg Vikings this week, however with their amazing quarterback Tyler Bray, great receivers, and heavy line the Cavaliers were only able to slow their defeat. The Cavaliers, with players playing both directions, did a great job coming together as a team to hold the Vikings throughout the game.

Having the home field advantage, blanketed with fog and covered in emotion, the CVC Cavalier football team played their final game for the 2008 season Friday (12/5/2008) against the Kingsburg Vikings. While each hoped to make it a win towards the south valley championship only one could emerge as a winner. Photographs taken at the game can be found
here.
After warmup’s in the cold December night air the CVC Cavalier Football team opened the game with near zero visibility under the field lights driving to score a touch down within the first half and before Kingsburg had an opportunity to score. Kingsburg, brought down by the low visibility, was unable to hold of the Cavaliers well practiced running game to drive and make the first touchdown of the game. Play after play CVC was able to prove their dominance on the field through 1st half of play, only allowing the Vikings one touchdown on what many would call a miracle of a catch due to the low fog. Leaving the first half of play tied the game was any one’s to win.
Opening the second half of play under much improved conditions the CVC Cavaliers and Kingsburg Vikings took turns in possession of the ball, each running out of plays and being forced to punt the ball to the opposing team. A well executed play late in the 3rd quarter put the Vikings ahead by just one touch down, giving the Cavaliers pressure through the rest of the game. With very little time left the Cavaliers in their final possession of the game recovered the ball and were able to press in for a touch down leaving only moments left in the 2nd half of play. After a timeout the much anticipated, and potentially game deciding, extra point was attempted, this time a surprising attempt to run the ball to the end zone once more, though the attempt for the extra point to hopefully win the game was failed, it brought the football season to a dramatic end.
Closing remarks from the Cavaliers head coach related how proud he was of the team and the strength and courage that they had shown throughout the season and although this game was lost he felt that it was a win for everyone.
As he CVC Cavalier football players move on to the next sport or the completion of their academic year I would simply like to say, Thank you all for a great season and for allowing me the opportunity to share the sidelines with the team. I hope to see those that aren’t graduating again next year out on the field again.
